The Local Area:
Antequera Town- some 10 minutes away by car.
Antequera is a thriving town situated some 30 miles from Malaga accessed by a scenic dual carriageway road.
This amazing town is known as “the heart of Andalucia” as it is located just off the main motorways to Granada and onto Almeria and Murcia, Cordoba, Seville and onto Portugal, Malaga and the well known resorts of Torremollinos, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Marbella and onto Puerto Banus.

Antequera is a bustling place with many Hotels, Bars, Street Cafes, Restaurants, Supermarkets and there is a new shopping centre located at the edge of the city.
It has wonderful bus and train services and also nearby is the Santa Ana Station with its NEW BULLET TRAIN SERVICES.

It is full of historical interest with its famous burial tombs and lies adjacent to the spectacular El Torcal range of Mountains and spectacular rock formations.
The old castle at the top of the town provides great views of mountains on one side and olive-covered hills on the other.
Antequera Hospital- reported to be the second best in Europe

The town centre is is very rich in architecture with a number of convents, barroccan churches and palace houses with beautiful hand made iron gates. It is a pleasure to walk through the busy streets and go for tapas in any of Antequera's typical bars and restaurants.

GOLF AT ANTEQUERA:
There is a spectacular 18 hole golf course surrounded by the beautiful natural park of El Torcal. Apparently these mountains were under sea water millions of years ago. Golfers will find the course quite demanding in that there is a variety of interesting shots. There is a professional shop, practice area with illuminated driving range, bar, cafeteria, restaurant, and conference room.

The course is beautiful with over 10 lakes, natural trees and fauna and is kept in top condition all year round.
ARDALES LAKES AND NATURE PARK:
People visiting this area will soon realise that the UK is not the only place to have a Lake District. The three large lakes are in fact reservoirs formed by the building of a Dam. The surrounding landscape is unbelievably beautiful.
There are numerous activities that are available including Canoeing, kayaking, wind surfing, swimming and is without a doubt a “fisherman’s paradise” Walkers spend many happy hours walking round the lakes and through the forests.
There are a number of good bars and restaurants on the banks of the lake and fishermen are allowed to take their catch into one of the Restaurants for cooking and then sampling their fresh catch.
Bird Watchers have a superb time watching the likes of the Griffon Vultutres nesting on the cliffs of the nearby El Chorro gorge. Eagles, Kestrels, Peregrines and Golden Eagles are also plentiful. Alongside the river there are Warblers, Thrushes, Woodpeckers, Treecreepers, Crested Tits, Jays and crossbills that are frequent visitors.
There is a real ‘holiday’ feel about this place. Two colourful cafés line the side of the road, selling the usual snacks and refreshments, specialities and souvenirs. Relax over a meal on the upper terraces and you can enjoy the wonderful views across the turquoise lakes.
Alongside the lakes you will find beaches with the blue tranquil waters, glittering in the hot sun and able to enjoy the utter peacefulness. Pedaloes are available to explore all the inlets and hidden coves.
Mollina:
A typical spanish village full of charm and with a great British presence lies just a short distance away. There are numereous bars, shops, restaurants, banks etc. All the people on the park frequent this village for their needs.
Mollina is situated in land that has earned a massive reputation for the growing of olives and grapes and with that created a major industry in the production of olive oil and wine. The quality of the wines has produced vintages of enormous quality that it now produces 80 percent of the wines with the designation “Denominacion de Origen Malaga”- of Malaga origin.
Not bad to have this village on your doorstep!!
